Medical Treatment in Thailand: What to Include in Your Budget

Look beyond the headline price and make room for the whole journey.

A little clarity first

Build your budget in separate parts: hospital care, travel, accommodation and optional support. Confirm what is included and how unexpected changes would be handled.

Start with a written hospital quote

Ask which consultations, tests, treatment, medicines and follow-up visits are included in the proposed price. Confirm the currency, validity period, payment schedule and refund terms. Keep any estimate clearly separate from a confirmed quotation.

Add the costs around your care

Include flights, airport and hospital transfers, accommodation, meals and companion expenses. If you need interpretation or other coordination, ask for a separate description and quote. Consider exchange-rate and payment charges when comparing offers in different currencies.

Leave flexibility in the plan

Ask the hospital about possible changes to timing and further assessment. Check the cost of extending your stay or changing transport before booking. Agree how you would be informed of additional costs and who needs to approve them.
